With a loud beat of the drum

… the ceremonial inauguration of the new workshop and service center took place at Polysius Shanghai on 22nd September 2011. 150 invited politicians and business people (particularly customers from China's cement and minerals industries) participated in the celebrations.

At the opening ceremony, the loud drum beat reverberating through the hall in Shanghai served as a good omen. Following a Chinese tradition, customers, politicians, leading representatives of ThyssenKrupp China, the Plant Technology business area and ThyssenKrupp Polysius opened the new workshop and service center.

"This expansion of our manufacturing capacities in China will assure our regional customers of even faster service in future" said ThyssenKrupp Polysius Chef Dr. Detlev Rose. "China's rapid infrastructure improvement and quickly progressing urbanisation means that local demand for products of the cement and minerals industries is skyrocketing".

Norbert Patzelt Dipl.-Ing., Executive Board Member responsible for the services and minerals sectors, added: "The workshop gate is crowned by the slogan 'Shaping the Future with Polysius'. It is very important to us that customers benefit equally from our local presence and access to the global knowhow of the Polysius Group. And, no matter where they are in the world, our facilities fulfil the same highest standards of quality."

The decision to locate the work in Shanghai was the result of an intensive selection process. The premises, around 21,000 m² in size, are situated at the mouth of the Yangtze River about four kilometres from the port of Luojing.
